FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this a real piece
of land?
 |
Yes it is! For the next 99 years, you’ll lease a one foot
square piece of land, for a one-time low price
of $38, which includes shipping and handling. We hope having this
piece of American History will give you an interest and appreciation
for this great country of ours. You’ll receive a beautiful
certificate suitable for framing, with the name of your choice and specific lot
designation printed on it. Additionally you will be provided with a
fascinating and informative map that measures 24"x36", showing you the location of
your lot and
describing historical events which occurred in the area. |
Why lease for 99 years
instead of owning?
 |
The size of the parcels are too small to
legally subdivide and the fees associated with selling individual
portions would make owning them expensive. So we tried to
make it as simple and economical as possible for individuals to obtain
an exciting piece of American History. That is why the lease is long term. |
Do I have to pay taxes
or other fees?
 |
No, you don’t. Historic Lots will pay the
taxes and other fees encountered for the next 99 years. You only pay a
one time low fee of $38 per lot. |
Can I get a refund if
I do not wish this novel property?
 |
We hope that you will find this unique offer interesting and desirable. However, if you are not satisfied for any reason, return the certificate and map for a full refund. We are so confident that you will be proud to have this piece of American History that we will refund shipping and handling costs as well. The refundable shipping costs are those which use First Class United States Postal Service. Special delivery costs are not refundable. There is a non-refundable US$ 15 fee for International orders. |
Is this where the two
railroads met with the driving of a golden spike in 1869?
 |
No, that location is in Promontory, Utah.
The lots we offer are in Imlay, Nevada. The Central Pacific Railroad
laid track past this site in September 1868, on their way to that
historic meeting at Promontory. We encourage you to visit the Golden Spike National
Historic Site in Promontory and learn more about this phenomenal feat
that transformed this nation. |
What are the images on
the certificate?
 |
The center panel depicts the joining of the
continent by the Central and Union Pacific Railroads as it occurred on
May 10, 1869 in Promontory, Utah. The upper left portrays prospecting
and mining the State of Nevada and this area have been known for.
Paiute Chief Winnemucca, whose town bears his name, is pictured in the
upper center image. At the upper right are images of local wildlife. The lower right panel reminds us of the
great independent spirit the cowboys represent from the past and
continue today. Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch Gang robbed a bank in
the town of Winnemucca on September 19, 1900. They brazenly sent the
bank a portrait photograph afterward with a note of thanks. We've depicted
that photograph in the
lower central panel. The lower right panel shows the determined pioneers
that risked everything they owned, to pursue personal dreams and
freedoms as they ventured nearby the site. For some it was the
ultimate price-life. |
Can I have my family
or group cluster our lots together?
 |
Yes, but please indicate so when ordering in
the special instructions box with the order.
Future orders for the same family, group or company cannot be
guaranteed as neighbors. We will try to accommodate requests, as they
are available. |
Are there
restrictions?
 |
Yes, there are. They are outlined on the
back of the beautiful certificate you’ll receive. Restrictions
were set up to respect the rights of others, given the unique novelty
of the property. Some of the restrictions include: no littering,
driving of vehicles on lot sites is prohibited (a roadway will be
provided in the future), establishing of residence is not allowed and
others. As mentioned earlier, we will refund your money if the
restrictions do not meet with your approval. You can wander about the
34 acres the property encompasses, but be careful and prepared since it is undeveloped
and rugged. |
Can I get my
certificate framed by Historic Lots?
 |
At this time we do not offer framing, but
are working to provide this added feature in the near future. |
